I love manatees. But I was mermaid-obsessed growing up, so, naturally, I loved the real-life creature that was most often mistaken for one by sailors.

They are quite cute and remind me of one of those scrunchy looking dogs (name escapes me). I heard that they are friendly, but what about self defense? Isn't it poison claws, or is that another Marine animal?

How to get into Cyber Formula?

I'd like to be inspired in maybe watching it. Should I watch it? Why was (is) it so popular for a racing show? What does it have?

I got into it because I'm a Kanemaru Jun'ichi fan. It's really old, and it could be boring at first, but I think the voicing is really neat and the character interactions are really important. Also, Hayato has a bond with his car, Asurada, since they both talk to each other. I think each episode has something worth while.

Cyber Formula is the show that got me interested in racing. XD

And the Cyber Formula series was mentioned plenty of times (even OVAs) in the yearly lists for TOP 20 Anime (1st place is 92!), TOP 20 characters, and TOP 20 anime themes.

In the 92 list, under favorite male characters, Hayato was placed in 1st! Hayato is in 2nd! Other characters mentioned were Naito and I'm not sure who this is: 新条直輝. Under females, there's Asuka and Miki.

For anime themes, "Winners", "I'll Come", and "Dreamer on the Road" were selected.

That was when I started to get curious, especially since I like cars.

The action is really good, if you like high speed racing. The animation is really awkward at first, I think, but if you get used to it, it becomes awesome. Especially the racing scenes. I think the animation is awesome for its time. X)
