I find it amusing that I can safely say I don't hate 4kids. I actually understand why they do the things they do. Sure, they suck and most of the times it's completely "WAAAAAAT" but if they don't want to get sued by over-protective parents, then they have to do what they do.

I just hope they make sure the shows they decide to take don't just look kiddy. I'm sure they don't want another One Piece. Though I loved their rap opening. *fails*

edit: Also, randomly... Yusa Koji, I adore your voice, but why is Shadow's so high now? Ever since Sonic Heroes, Shadow's voice has been basically your normal one. He's not Urataros or Gin. I mean, it's adorable... But what happened?? ;^;

That's a good point, actually. I've not really had an opinion either way, but this is the first time I've heard something about them in a long time that wasn't completely flames.

Well, see, I doubt 4kids expects to be watched by people over 12. I'm sure their target audience are kids under 12, which is why their company name is "4 Kids".

They use cheap edits because kids don't usually point out edits. They watch the show. 4kids also wants to make the shows relate-able for kids, so they will take a series that takes place in Japan and instead change it to America, thus having the change the names of the characters. Most of the times they keep the main character's name the same. Ex: Yugi Motou or Seto Kaiba.

I now understand why they cut so much, and I'm sure if they had more control over what they can and can't show on TV, they wouldn't change so much. But it's because they'd be sued otherwise.

Most people don't see past the edits or changes. They just see those and go 'SHDJFSHJDHF I HATE 4KIDS THEY BUTCHER EVERYTHING'. But there is a reason for it. Even if the reasons are WEIRD. Like taking out "DO NOT ENTER" and putting a symbol instead. XD; They're just treading VERY carefully.

I still love watching their TMNT, though. One of the best shows EVER.

Though, sometimes the edits lack any sort of logic whatsoever. That's when they bother me. Or when they dumb down things unnessecarily, like changing a female character's flashbacks from mainly centering around her friends, her captures, and her accomplishments as a trainer to... mainly her, mostly dub-made-up, romance with the main male character.

That was vaguely sexist, just plain pointless, and had nothing at all to do with censorship, but I do agree that 4Kids are pretty good at some of their own stuff.

Eeek, yeah, One Piece. I don't have much of an interest in music, so I could never see what was so bad about the opening. I thought it was cute!

They do change things for often random reasons, but I guess they are just that afraid of getting in trouble. They seem to act like they're always walking on egg shells. Which can be really annoying, but hey, I don't put my hopes too high for these guys; I just end up appreciating what they put out.
